The mindfulness programme for kids caters solely for primary school children.

The course itself is drawn from the work of Youth Mindfulness.org, Scotland and their Mindfulness Kids Programme.

The Youth Mindfulness Kids Programme has been taught to over 25,000 children in 18 countries was featured in the United Kingdom All-Party Parliamentary Group Report: Mindful Nation UK, and is recognized as one of the leading mindfulness programmes in the UK for children and young people.

Mindfullness For Kids

The course works from the ground up, building depth and skill and practice with continuity. The first six lessons focus on building the embodiment of mindfulness practice; present moment awareness.

Following this children learn how mindfulness can help them be happier and more calm, while also learning how to notice and allow the more difficult emotions, such as boredom, restlessness, anger, frustration.

The last number of lessons work on the cultivation of kindness and lastly the ideas of purpose and action.

The pedagogical approach to the delivery of The Kids Programme is grounded also in the tenants of mindfulness. Non-judgemental enquiry and natural curiosity are central tools of  the teachers delivering the course. But essential also is a sense of fun and ease as this environment is best suited to the efficacy of mindfulness practice.

Children are never told they wrong or right about their experiences or feelings but rather encouraged to witness them with a sense of curiosity and gentleness. All the teachers at mymindandme.ie are mindfulness practitioners themselves and their knowledge in this respect is essential in guiding the children.
